sharashidze david: "the
beauty of trivial things e.g. every day routine is the source
of poetry and inspiration: a cup of coffee in the morning,
a woman reading a book, vegetables on the table, a glass of
red wine poured by a friend, buildings and cities - all of
these things.
everything which gives me joy in life is present in my
pictures and there is no other colour than red which - renders
sweetness as the taste of a pomegranate, warmth of a fire,
the beauty of the old carpet.
if colour is my element then the process of composition
is the ground for meditation. my work experience as a photographer
makes me look for unusual foreshortening when depicting
usual things (views out to sea from the garret window, a
table with pomegranates) use of back perspective, combination
of protuberant and flat forms gives paintings additional
depth. iam interested in icon painting but pirosmanishvili
and matisse's works show me the way forward."
