it's a desire to "portray nonportrayable",
which links sergei aloian with the traditions of russian orthodox
icon pain ting. that's why there is harmony dominating in his
self -made illusory world. any disruption of it is painfully
unnatural, and the horror of such a disharmony is shown in his
rare, but most impressive characters.
it's possible to try to recite aloian's compositions, to look
for a hidden meaning, and it's also possible to trust intuition,
to get dissolved in the space full of poetry, to take it as
a troublesome conjecture. only then it becomes clear that the
artist does not separate himself from man, from life with all
its discomforts and dissonances by creating a new kind of reality.
using his art, he can help anybody to reach a bearing point,
if not here, then in our one's own consciousness. |
